How do you shutdown Windows 8?

To shut down Windows 8, hover your mouse over the gadgets function in the lower right corner of the screen, or press Windows-C on your keyboard. A slide-out menu then displays on the desktop. Click Settings, the Power button and then Shut Down to completely shut down Windows 8.

  1. Display the charms gadget

    Hover your mouse over the charms gadget in the lower right corner of the screen. Alternatively, press Windows-C on your keyboard to open the slide-out menu.

  2. Select settings

    From the slide-out menu display, click Settings.

  3. Shut down Windows

    Click the Power button, and then click Shut Down.
