A side-by-side ATV is an all-terrain vehicle that seats more than one person. Once used primarily by farmers and builders to haul supplies, side-by-side ATVs have become a luxurious off-roading vehicle instead.
As of February 2015, side-by-side ATVs typically cost between $7,000 and $17,000, and sales grow by roughly 15 percent each year. Side-by-sides have steering wheels and roll bars, as opposed to the handlebars and open saddle seats of standard ATVs. They can reach speeds of about 60 miles per hour and often do not require a driver's license to operate. A number of manufacturers make side-by-sides, including Yamaha and Polaris.
