The Sieve of Eratosthenes is an algorithm for finding prime numbers up to a set number and creating a sieve program in javascript that teaches the fundamentals of programming an algorithm. Algorithms are procedures for problem solving that follow specific steps to achieve results.
Computers rely on algorithms to function, which means programmers must create algorithms to tell computers how to solve problems. Algorithms must be clearly defined and set up sequentially, and they must contain clear conditions about stopping.
Eratosthenes was born in 276 BCE and was the third librarian at Alexandria. His pursuits as a scholar led to the culmination of his sieve for prime numbers.
