Silver hydroxide is a chemical compound composed of one atom each of silver, hydrogen and oxygen. The chemical formula for the compound is AgOH. It has a molar mass of 123.9 grams, of which silver comprises approximately 86 percent.
The atomic weight of silver is 107.87 grams per mole, while oxygen is 16 grams per mole and hydrogen is 1 gram per mole. Silver hydroxide is formed from positively charged silver ions reacting and bonding with a negatively charged hydroxide compound. It is commonly created as a result of reacting silver ions in a solution with sodium hydroxide; the silver replaces the sodium in the bond and precipitates out.
