"Silver" begins with a personification of the moon walking through the night on her "silver shoon," or shoes. As she looks at the Earth below, she sees all of nature plated in silver. There is "silver fruit on silver trees," a multitude of silver windows and even the dogs' paws are silver as they sleep in their doghouses. The doves have silver feathers, and the active mouse has "silver claws, and silver eye." The fish gleam too, as they rest near "silver reeds in a silver stream."
