Who makes Simplicity mowers?

The Simplicity Manufacturing Company, a subsidiary of Briggs and Stratton, makes Simplicity mowers. William J. Niederkorn founded the company in 1922 after purchasing some assets from the dissolving Turner Manufacturing company.

The Simplicity Manufacturing Company's first product was a cylinder-boring machine; Simplicity started building garden tractors for Montgomery Ward in 1937. In the mid-1950s, Simplicity built its first riding mower, the Wonderboy, and continued to sell it until the 1970s.

Simplicity bought Snapper in 2002 and Briggs and Stratton bought Simplicity in 2004. The Port Washington, Wisconsin plant closed in October 2008 and production of Simplicity mowers moved to the Snapper plants.
