What is the size of the Bermuda Triangle?

The Bermuda Triangle, or Devil's Triangle, comprises a total area of about 500,000 square miles off the southeastern edge of Florida. The Bermuda Triangle is a mythical part of the Atlantic Ocean, formed by Miami, Fla., Bermuda and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A number of unexplained disappearances of ships and airplanes have been reported in the Bermuda Triangle. One notable disappearance was an entire squadron of U.S. Navy bombers that have never been found, after the pilots became disoriented in that fabled area. However, the U.S. Navy does not accept the existence of the mythical area, and the Bermuda Triangle is not officially recognized by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
