The size of the tank necessary to house a bearded dragon depends on the size of the animal. A baby dragons needs a 20-gallon tank. An adult that is 20 inches or longer can survive in a 75-gallon tank, but a 120-gallon tank is preferable.
Young adults that are 10 to 16 inches long can be housed in 40-gallon tanks, but larger tanks are preferable. Dragons that are 16 to 20 inches in length need a 75-gallon tank at minimum. Although bearded dragons can grow to 24 inches long, in captivity they only grow to fit the size of the tank in which they are kept.
