Skyactiv is a combination of technologies used to make Mazda vehicles more fuel-efficient. SKYACTIV combines engine, transmission and body components to deliver vehicles with better gas mileage.
According to Mazda, Skyactiv systems are available on gas or diesel engines combined with either a manual or automatic transmission to deliver peak fuel efficiency. The technologies are combined with a body also designed to deliver peak vehicle performance.
Automobile magazine says that Skyactiv is just a marketing term. However, it does say that the Skyactiv engines provided a 15 percent boost in fuel economy over the previous engine configuration, achieved by adjusting the internal-combustion process.
