SKYACTIV is a family of vehicle engines first introduced by Mazda in 2011 that claims greater fuel efficiency compared to conventional internal combustion engines. The SKYACTIV engine comes in two fuel varieties, gasoline and diesel, and has an air-to-fuel compression ratio of 14 to 1.
The SKYACTIV engine is available in both automatic and manual transmission configurations, identified as SKYACTIV-Drive and SKYACTIV-MT, respectively. To complement the SKYACTIV family of engines, Mazda also offers an engine-specific vehicle platform in the form of the SKYACTIV-Body and the SKYACTIV-Chassis. As of 2015 the Mazda website claims that the SKYACTIV-Body weighs 8 percent less than conventional car body frames.
