Some slogans used by Indian freedom fighters include "karo ya maro," meaning "do or die," and "satyameva jayate," meaning "truth alone will win." The first of these was used by the Congress Working Committee during their "Quit India" movement from 1942 and the second was the slogan of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, who was instrumental in the movement for Hindu nationalism.

Such slogans are an important part of political movements, helping to summarize a message and to give people a simple sentiment to rally behind.

Another slogan, used by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, was "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it." Bal Gangadhar Tilak had many followers and is remembered as a strong and passionate leader.
