The world's smallest volcano is the inactive Cuexcomate in Puebla, Mexico. Cuexcomate stands 43 feet tall, with a diameter of 76 feet. It was formed in 1064 as a result of an explosion of the nearby Popocatepetl.
Cuexcomate is considered inactive, but nearby villages are still under threat from Popocatepetl's frequent explosions. There is also concern that Popocatepetl's activity could lead to Cuexcomate increasing in size. It has a long way to go, however, before it would exceed the size of Taal, the world's smallest active volcano. This volcano in the Philippines is approximately 2,296 feet tall, about 53 times taller than Cuexcomate.
