To soak off acrylic nails, fill a glass bowl with acetone-based nail polish remover. Put petroleum jelly on the skin around your nails, place your nails in the bowl of acetone, and let the nails soak. Use a cuticle pusher to remove the nails, soak them again, and wash your hands.
- Add acetone nail polish remover to a bowl
Pour 1/4 cup of acetone nail polish into a small glass bowl, and set the bowl aside.
- Place petroleum jelly on your fingertips
Massage petroleum jelly on the skin around each fingernail. Petroleum jelly protects the nails and skin from acetone, a harsh substance that causes skin irritations.
- Soak your nails
Soak your nails in the bowl of acetone for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Loosen the nails, and soak your fingers again
Use a cuticle pusher to loosen the acrylic nails gently. When loosening, start at the base of the nail bed, and gently work your way to the top of each nail. Soak your fingers again if the acrylic does not loosen. Continue this process on both hands until the acrylic nails become loose and completely fall off.
- Clean your hands
Use warm, soapy water to wash your hands thoroughly.
