What are society finches?

Society finches, also known as Bengalese finches, are domesticated birds. They are small and can be brown and white, cream and white, fawn and white, chocolate, or grey and chestnut in color.

Society finches eat pelleted food, spinach, kale, parsley, apples, apricots, cuttlebones or crushed oyster shells. They need fresh water every day, and their dishes should be cleaned regularly. Society finches are peaceful and social with other finch species. Male society finches sing, stretch their necks and fluff their feathers when they are near females. Hatchlings are bald when they emerge from their eggs. They will leave their nests after two weeks.
