How does someone unblock caller ID?

If someone's phone number is supposed to be blocked for all phone calls, it can be temporarily unblocked by dialing *82 before inputting the phone number. Callers that need to prevent their name and phone number from appearing on someone's caller ID for one phone call can do so by dialing *67 before entering the phone number.

When dialing 911, poison control or 1-800 numbers, technology allows the caller's phone number to be revealed even when steps have been taken to block the number. People who have requested that the phone company block their phone number for all calls will also have their names blocked due to Federal Communications Commission rules.
