The Realtek High Definition Audio Driver is compatible with Windows XP. To find out which sound driver is needed for the sound card in your PC, click Start, then Run, enter "dxdiag" into the dialog box and click Ok. Click on the Sound tab in the diagnostics window.
To install a sound driver on a Windows XP machine automatically, click Start, then Control Panel, and then select Automatic Updates. Select the radio button labeled Automatic, and set the update time and date. Windows automatically detects the driver and updates or replaces the existing sound driver. Other methods include installation from the software driver disc and manually downloading and installing the required driver from the Internet.
