Where is the South China Sea located?

The South China Sea is located in the Pacific Ocean. It stretches from the Strait of Malacca to the Straight of Taiwan.

The South China Sea, comprised of 1.4 million square miles, is a valuable world resource and contains numerous fisheries. It is also home to more than 30 percent of the coral reefs across the world. The South China Sea was originally called just the China Sea, or Mar de China, by the Portuguese. Countries bordering the South China Sea include China, Singapore and the Philippines to name a few, and it is fed by nine different major rivers.
