What species are fish?

There are about 32,000 species of fish. Each species belongs to a genus. Among them are lampetra, which contains some lampreys. These are primitive fish that have a skeleton made of cartilage, seven pairs of gills, one nostril between the eyes and a round mouth full of horny teeth.
Gilas are chubs, some of which are endangered. The hybopsis genus also include chubs, which are slender and usually small fish that are related to minnows. These fish live in fresh water.
Types of pike belong to the esox genus. These are predatory fish that live mostly in the northern areas of North America.
