What is speed stacking?

Speed stacking, sport stacking or cup stacking is the sport of quickly stacking cups. The goal is to precisely and quickly stack cups in predetermined patterns.

The sport is played competitively by teams and individuals, or played against the clock by speed-stacking hobbyists. The World Sport Stacking Association, or WSSA, holds tournaments around the world, and players are divided into divisions based on their ages. Speed Stacks is the official brand of the WSSA and the only brand allowed in tournaments. The game was created in the 1980s, and gained popularity in the 1990s after it was showcased on "The Tonight Show."
