What is the speed of a USB 2 connection?
By Forinfos - 11/05/2025 - 0 comments
The theoretical speed of a standard USB 2.0 connection is a data transfer speed of 60 megabytes per second or 480 megabits per second. At its release, bus access constraints decreased the maximum rate of transfer, lowering the effective speed to only 35 megabytes and 280 megabits.
The USB 2.0 connection technology first appeared in April 2000 before the introduction of the USB 3.0 gradually replaced it in November 2008. The USB 3.0's theoretical speed maximum is set at 640 megabytes per second or 5 gigabits per second, which is just over 10 times the maximum speed of the USB 2.0.
