Do spiders lay eggs in human ears?

While spiders and other small insects do, on occasion, enter human ears, they do not do so to lay eggs. Once inside the ear, spiders typically seek only to get back out.

There was a highly publicized case of a spider living within a human ear in 2012, when a Chinese doctor discovered one inside the ear of a female patient complaining of an itch. It had been living there for five days, having entered the ear as she slept.

Although spiders do not generally lay eggs in human ears, there have been cases of fly larvae living as parasites within the ears of humans and other vertebrates. However, this tends to be rare.
