What is a spill mat?

A spill mat absorbs and contains various liquids, from water to oil. Its function is to prevent a spilled liquid from spreading, to improve traction in the spill area and to protect the surface underneath it.

Large spill mats are suitable for covering the floors of entire rooms and hallways. There are also specialized mats for use during refuelling or vehicle maintenance. Spill mats also serve to protect the surfaces of furniture at risk of damage by liquids, such as a surface under an aquarium or a bar counter. Parents may use a spill mat to keep their children from soiling their playing surfaces.
