What is a spoon roast?

Spoon roast is an industry term used to describe a cut of meat that is cooked so it is tender enough to scoop with a spoon. This includes top sirloin roast, beef sirloin and lamb that has been cooked slowly on low in order to reach maximum tenderness.

The spoon roast is essentially a type of roast that doesn't require as much cooking time as an actual pot roast, due to its cut. The best way to cook it is by placing it in a small amount of water in a casserole dish and baking it at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes approximately 18 minutes per pound for medium or up to 25 minutes per pound for well done.
