Has anyone ever died during a freestyle snowmobiling race?

In 2013, Caleb Moore died as the result of injuries sustained during the snowmobile freestyle event held at the Winter X Games. Moore previously raced all-terrain vehicles before switching over to snowmobiles.

The accident that resulted in Caleb Moore’s death occurred as he was attempting to perform a backflip. As the vehicle was landing, the skis on the front of the vehicle hit the lip of the landing area, and he was thrown from the vehicle, which then rolled over him. Although Moore initially walked off the course under his own power, he later developed bleeding around his heart and suffered additional brain complications, eventually resulting in his death.
