Curling is a sport played all over the world with no version specific to Canada. Players slide curling stones across ice and try to make them stop on a target painted on the ice and to knock the other team's stones out of the target.
Both the men's and women's Canadian Olympic curling teams have won many medals. As of 2015, many media outlets consider Canada a dominant force in international curling. Curling originated in medieval Scotland and first appeared as an official Olympic sport in the 1998 Olympics. In addition to the Olympics, many curling championships are hosted by various countries around the world.
