By Forinfos - 30/04/2025 - 0 comments

Species of spotted wild cats include the jaguar, margay, ocelot, cheetah, leopard and serval. Additional spotted wild cats include the clouded leopard, snow leopard, fishing cat, bobcat, Geoffroy's cat, marbled cat, oncilla and rusty-spotted cat. Almost half of the 40 species of wild cat in the world are spotted.

The spots on a spotted wild cat's fur help it stay camouflaged in grasses and dappled sunlight, giving it a better chance to pounce on prey. As of 2014, spotted wild cats are found in North and South America, Africa and Asia. Jaguars, ocelots and margays all live in South and Central America, and ocelots are also found in Mexico and Texas in North America.
