Do free-standing washing machines perform better than stacked units?

All-in-one stacked units do not tend to perform as well as free-standing units because they are much smaller and are typically top-loading. Most front-loading free-standing washer and dryer units can be stacked, however, using a purchased kit without a change in their operation.
The all-in-one unit is mainly recommended for those who have no space for full-sized washing and drying units because they have a much smaller capacity, they often take longer for a full cycle, and the top-loading washer drum doesn't tend to clean as well as a front-loading one can. Stacking a standard front-loading dryer on top of a front-loading washer, however, saves spaces and doesn't sacrifice performance.
