Do starfish have eyes?

Starfish have eyes at the end of their arms, though scientists were unsure whether or not they could actually see anything. In 2014, research demonstrated that the eyes do allow at least some starfish a degree of vision beyond merely the distinction between light and dark.

A starfish has as many eyes as it has arms. In other words, those with five arms also have five eyes. The eyes appear as red or black spots visible just beneath the skin's surface. Though starfish can see better than once thought, their eyesight is still considered quite poor. For instance, the blue starfish is able to recognize large, still objects but no details.
