Where is the state of Alabama located?

The state of Alabama is situated in the southeastern United States. Alabama shares borders with the Gulf of Mexico and Florida, which are to its south and also shares a border with Mississippi to the west, Georgia to the east and Tennessee in the north. The state has 53 miles of coastlines that stretch from its borders with Florida and Mississippi.

Alabama has a total land area of 50,744 square miles that consists primarily of rolling plains and a lesser mountainous region that is positioned in the northeast section of the state. The state contains no sizable natural lakes, but does have many rivers and waterways that mostly flow south into the Gulf of Mexico.
