What state is MD?

MD is an abbreviation for the state of Maryland. Maryland is located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It is ranked the 42nd-largest state in the country.

Though the state is smaller than most in America, Maryland includes the country’s largest estuary. The Chesapeake Bay nearly bisects the state due to its large size. The eastern half of Maryland has a humid subtropical climate. With hot humid summers, eastern Maryland can also experience mild to cool winters. Western Maryland region includes higher elevations with forested mountains. This region includes the state’s highest point, Backbone Mountain. The mountainside offers colder temperatures in the winter for skiing and other outdoor activities.
