Vermont is the 45th largest state in the United States with 9,249 square miles of land. Vermont is approximately 80 miles wide and 160 miles long. The state is well known for its Green Mountain region.
The two major lakes in Vermont are Lake Champlain and Lake Memphremagog. The state also has three major rivers: West River, Otter River and the Winooski River. Vermont is covered by 366 square miles of water.
