The Midwest market – Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin – has the lowest average price for eggs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports. The average February 2015 price for one dozen Grade A large white eggs in this region was $1.28.
Prices in the New York market for one dozen Grade A large eggs were just under $1.50, while in Southern California the average cost was almost $3 per dozen – a price spread of about $1.50 per dozen between the coasts, according to the USDA’s Feb. 17, 2015, Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook.
