The statue of Zeus was supposedly destroyed by a destructive fire in 462 A.D. Other sources mention that it could have been destroyed in 475 A.D.
The statue of Zeus was originally located in the city of Olympia in Ancient Greece. However, Christians viewed the temple as a threat to their beliefs, and decided to close down the temple in 391 A.D. The statue was then transferred to another city in Ancient Greece, Constantinople, and remained safe for some time until it was later destroyed by a fire. The temple of Zeus was designed by Libon of Elis and sculpted by the artist, Phidias.
