To make a mustache necklace, flatten a small piece of clay, cut it into a mustache shape, bake it and attach a chain. This two-hour project requires polymer clay, an oven, a baking sheet, parchment paper, an awl, a knife, jump rings, a chain, needle nose pliers and a clasp.
- Cut and shape the clay
Cut a piece of polymer clay that is the approximate size of your little finger. Place the clay on a flat work surface. Roll it into a smooth tube. Flatten it into a rectangle, and cut it into a mustache shape. Use an awl to poke two holes near the top of the mustache.
- Bake the clay
Put the clay mustache on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake it according to the clay manufacturer's instructions. Remove the baking sheet. Turn off the oven, and wait for the clay to cool.
- Attach jump rings
Open two jump rings with pliers, and insert them in the awl holes.
- Attach the chain
Attach a chain to each jump ring, and close the rings with pliers.
- Attach the clasp
Open a jump ring, and thread it through the hole of a jewelry clasp. Hook the jump ring through the free end of one of the necklace chains, and squeeze it closed with pliers. Open another jump ring, and attach it to the end of the other chain.
