Stevia is a type of sugar substitute and sweetener. Stevia is much sweeter than sugar, but it does not contain any calories.
Stevia is extracted from the Stevia rebaudiana plants leaves. This product does not affect glucose levels like sugar does. Therefore, it is ideal for dieters or people who need to control their carbohydrate and sugar intake.
The Stevia plant has been used for over 1,500 years as a natural sweetener. It was introduced on the commercial market in the 1970s.
Those that take certain medications for hypertension and diabetes should consult with their doctor before using Stevia. This product can interact with some medications.
