What does a stingray eat?

Stingrays are carnivores that feed on prey such as mollusks, carrion, crustaceans and fish. They are typically found cruising the ocean floor in search of prey. Their mouths, located on the undersides of their bodies, allow them to scoop food off the bottom of the ocean or dig it out of the sand.

Stingrays possess sharp, powerful teeth that are strong enough to crack the shells of crustaceans and mollusks and withdraw the meat within. They hunt stealthily, blending in with the ocean floor until they locate their prey. Their mouths are also equipped with sensors that detect the electrical charges emitted by other animals. Their preferred meals include clams and mussels.
