How do you store fresh ginger root?

There are many ways to store fresh ginger root, but the simplest method is to keep the ginger in an airtight plastic bag in the refrigerator. High-quality zippered freezer bags are the best to use for this type of storage.

1. Place ginger root in an airtight plastic bag

   Place the unpeeled ginger root in an airtight plastic bag. Peeled ginger is fine but does not last as long as when the peel is left on. Make sure to squeeze all the air out as you seal the bag.

2. Place the bag in the fridge

   Store the bag of ginger in the vegetable crisper drawer of your refrigerator.

3. Use the ginger as needed
