Do streak-free glass cleaners really work?

As long as the proper cleaning materials are used, streak-free glass cleaners do work because they are designed to create few suds, which can cause streaks. Using a lint-free microfiber cloth with a flat weave also prevents pieces of material being left behind. Chamois, a soft tanned leather, also works.
If using the type of glass cleaner that needs to be diluted, it is best to use distilled water. Tap water has minerals in it that can cause streaking. Distilled water also works best for homemade glass cleaner recipes, like vinegar and water. Heavily soiled windows might need to be cleaned first with soap and water to remove the grime, and then rewashed with the glass cleaner once they are dry.
