By Forinfos - 10/03/2026 - 0 comments
Strongbow cider is a dry, alcoholic, apple flavored beverage with between a 4.5- and 5-percent alcohol by volume rate. As of 2015, Strongbow produces four flavors of cider: gold apple, honey, red berries and ginger.
Bulmer's Cider Company, a subsidiary of Heineken, first began crafting Strongbow cider in Hereford, England in 1962. Strongbow is named after Richard de Clare, the Cambro-Norman knight who later became Earl of Pembroke. Clare received the nickname "Strongbow" for using Welsh archers during campaigns in Ireland. In 1970, Strongbow became the second highest selling cider in the world, and as of 2015, it has a 15-percent volume share of the global cider market.
