The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally takes place once a year, in the first or second week of August, in Sturgis, South Dakota. There was a record-breaking crowd of 750,000 motorcycle riders and enthusiasts at the 2015 Rally to celebrate the event's 75th Anniversary.
Besides a couple of years during World War II, the Sturgis Rally has been held every August since 1938. What started as the Black Hills Classic, with a few motorcycles, one race and a handful of spectators, has evolved into one of the largest motorcycle events in the world. The week-long celebration generates about $800 million in revenue for South Dakota.
