What are some facts about sugar content in alcohol?

The amount of sugar in alcohol varies depending on the drink. However, the sugar in an alcoholic drink often comes from the other ingredients rather than the alcohol itself.

One of the most sugary alcoholic drinks is a shot of creme de menthe, which contains 21 grams of sugar per shot. Other very sugary alcohols include cider and sherry, with one 500ml bottle of Bulmers cider containing 20.5 grams of sugar. Alcoholic drinks that do not cpntain added sugar include gin, rum, whisky, beer, and vodka.

It is recommended that women have no more than 24 grams of sugar per day, and men no more than 36 grams.
