A glass of wine may have between 0.5 and 1.5 grams of sugar, while a shot of hard liquor, such as whiskey, has almost no sugar. The amounts of sugar vary between different alcohol brands and recipes.
In general, drinks with a higher alcohol content have a lower sugar content. Beer may have less than 1 gram of sugar or 5 or more grams of sugar, depending on the brand and type of beer. Light beer may have more sugar than regular beer. Dry red wine often has less than 1 gram of sugar per glass, while white wines, sweet wines and sherries have a higher sugar content. Mixing alcohol with soda or liqueur significantly raises the sugar content of the beverage.
