Whiskey, along with vodka, rum and gin, does not contain any added sugars. In addition, beer does not contain any sugar either. Choosing hard liquor, wine or beer opposed to mixed cocktails can assist individuals in consuming less sugar in their diets.

Even though whiskey does not contain any sugar and only an alcohol content, diabetics need to moderate their intake. Diabetics are known for suffering from hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia. When alcohol is consumed without sugar it can lead to low blood sugar levels. As there is no sugar present in most whiskey varieties, it increases the chances of developing hypoglycaemia.
