Sulfacetamide sodium ophthalmic solution is an antibiotic eye drop that is prescribed for the treatment of eye infections caused by bacteria. This medication comes in a 10 percent solution and is available under the brand name Bleph-10, according to RxList.

Sulfacetamide sodium ophthalmic is used to treat bacterial infections that cause conjunctivitis, trachoma and corneal inflammation, states WebMD. The medication is used in time intervals of 2 to 3 hours throughout the day where two drops are placed in the affected eye, reports the website Drugs. The treatment can last ten from 7 to 10 days. Patients should follow their doctors' instructions on medication use for the specific type of eye infection.

This sulfa-type antibiotic medication is also available as an ointment. There can be some side effects associated with this product, such as stinging and eyes that redden.
