Is sulfur malleable?

Malleability only applies to metallic elements; it cannot be applied to sulfur, as it is non-metallic. Pure sulfur is a very brittle, yellow-colored solid, belonging to group 16 on the periodic table, which is known as the chalcogens or the oxygen group.

Although none of the members of this group, which also includes selenium, tellurium and polonium, are metallic, they differ quite widely in terms of physical properties. For instance, oxygen is a gas, while the others are brittle solids.

Only nine elements are more abundant in the universe than sulfur, which was originally discovered in ancient times. However, it wasn't until 1777 that is was first classified as an element.
