What are sumo squats?
By Forinfos - 06/04/2026 - 0 comments
A sumo squat is a version of the squat exercise where the legs are kept farther than hip-width apart and the toes are pointed outward. This maneuver requires greater strength in the glutes and inner thighs, to maintain stability and balance, than a normal squat.
To perform a sumo squat, stand with the legs greater than hip-width apart and the toes pointing outward. The knees should point in the same direction as the toes when descending. Slowly descend, keeping the back straight, until the thighs are parallel with the floor. Hold the position for a short pause, and then slowly ascend, keeping the knees and the toes pointed outward, to complete one repetition.
