Sundew plants are one of the largest varieties of carnivorous plants in the world, and they can be found anywhere in the world with the exception of Antarctica, according to Learn About Nature. There are nearly 200 species of this plant, which has the scientific name Drosera.
All types of sundew plants grow as far north as Alaska and as far south as New Zealand. They are most densely located in Australia, which holds about 50 percent of all known species of the plant. South America and South Africa hold more than 20 each, and a few varieties can be found in North America, Europe and Asia.
