The earliest-beginning Super Bowl was Super Bowl V, which started at 1:00 p.m. CST. Super Bowl XII, which started at 5:17 p.m. CST, was the first Super Bowl played closer to 5:30 p.m. CST. Some of the Super Bowls in the 1980s began approximately one or two hours earlier than 5:30 p.m. CST.
