What is surrealism art for kids?

Surrealism is a kind of modern art for kids with images that are based on the world of dreams and fantasy. It originally started as a philosophical movement, according to which dreams and the subconscious mind were the only way to find the truth in this world.

The surrealism movement included many different poets, writers and artists who used their work to express their thoughts and theories. Surrealism art became popular in Europe in the mid-1920s and remained a significant part of the art world well after World War II. Automatic drawing and doodling were two very common techniques, where the artist just put down whatever came into his or her mind on paper.
