SVT is the name given when someone's heart beats faster when it does not have a reason to, such as during exercise or stress, according to WebMD. It is an acronym that stands for supraventricular tachycardia.
When someone suffers an SVT attack, the heart speeds up to at least 100 beats per minute and up to 300 beats per minute, according to WebMD. When an episode occurs, a person may need treatment. A person's heart may go back to normal on its own, but the patient should always consult with a doctor following an issue with the heart. SVT is especially problematic if it lasts for long periods of time or happens too often.
